EMI European Mycological Institute

  The European Mycological Institute (EMI) is an European Grouping of Territorial Cooperation (EGTC) emerged in 2015 from the project Interreg IVB SUDOE. The purpose of the EMI is to carry out and manage, under a sustainable development perspective, projects and cooperation actions related to the management and valorisation of mycological resource.

We are registered in the European Committee of the Regions, and currently the EMI is made up of research centres and public administrations of Périgord-Nouvelle Aquitaine, Occitaine, Aragón, Catalunya and Castilla y León. We also have a new benefactor partner in China (Golden Truffles ) and collaborators in Switzerland and Canada.

Underlining the value of mycological resources in rural areas through mycotourism, gastronomy and food innovation
Promoting an innovative forest management system called “myco-forestry” to ensure the permanence of forests and fungi in the context of climate change.

The EMI aims also to address the needs of mushrooms and truffles sector in Europe and to streamline tax and regulatory issues that hinder the development of the market.
